There are times when are DaDesktop may warn you if your connection appears to have a 'latency' (delay) that is too slow to provide good performance.
In this case, please check the steps below to try and improve your connection.
Steps to take
- Use an Ethernet connection if possible, or if using Wifi, take an internet speedtest to test your speed beforehand, eg using speedtest.net
- Ensure that you are close to the Wireless access point if at all possible. Use 5 GHz wifi if possible instead of 2.4 GHz, as 2.4 GHz often provides lower speeds and can be affected by interference more easily than the 5 GHz band
- Switch off or disable any VPN's or proxies before joining the course
- Disable any security applications that may conflict with network connection if at all possible, as these can affect the connection speed, i.e. latency sometimes
-
Participants may wish to speak to their company IT support for assistance, especially if their network is impacted by content or network filtering etc.
Whitelisting the following domains can help :-
1. https://\*.npg.io (eg any host at .npg.io )
2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com - Avoid making large download/uploads during the course, ie pause Windows/Mac/Linux updates if possible until after the course
-
Internet speed should be faster than: "10 Mbps download & 1 Mbps upload"
